How does therapy work?
Firstly, a detailed assessment of each case is carried out to determine the best individualized therapeutic plan possible. This process usually takes two sessions and consists of an interview to learn about the problem in depth and the administration of psychological tests if necessary. After finishing the process, a session is held with all the feedback on the results and to explain the most appropriate treatment. After that, the treatment begins with weekly sessions of 1 hour and the duration will be determined by the particularities of each case. Once the treatment is finished, there is a follow-up phase to prevent relapses and consolidate the achievement.
How can counseling help me?
A professional psychologist specialized in the clinical field has years of formal training (a minimum of 6 years) and experience and is regulated as a health care provider. They have the knowledge and are ready to guide you in emotional or behavioral issues. They know the right tools to deal with emotional suffering and improve the psychological well-being of people, and help you live a full and satisfactory life. In addition, they follow validated methods and the ethical principles and code of conduct that protects both the psychologist and the patient.

Currently, we do not work with any insurance companies. However, we offer therapy at a reduced rate so that everyone can access the professional care they deserve at a fair price.

What is your therapeutic approach?
Arzak Psicología combines two approaches that have strong scientific evidence, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and the so-called third generation therapies, which include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Therapies.
In Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, the object of treatment is behavior, at its different levels (behavioral, cognitive, physiological and emotional), as an activity capable of measurement. Internal events such as thoughts are considered of great relevance . People’s behavior is learned based on the different experiences the person has been through, without ignoring the influence of biological or social factors. It requires an active collaboration between therapist and patient, crucial in therapy success.
Third generation therapies propose the disorder is not found within the person, instead
it is the context, the person in a problematic situation or circumstances that contributes to its development. These therapies consider that psychological disorders are problems derived from interacting with the current context, starting from the historical context (the person’s past experiences). They are based on concepts such as acceptance, emotional regulation, the importance of our core values, taking action and living in the present.
